Real Choice? It’s Off-Limits in Health Bills
Click the title to read an article in the NYTimes about current limits to choice.
The public’s lack of awareness of the pernicious effect of insurance policies leads to complacency with a broken system.
Example - they fund ads that lie to the public about reform plans saying “your doctor’s decisions will be dictated by government.” The actual bills say the opposite.
In the real world the insurance industry dictates what we can do in practice every day.
An email from a colleague today:
“I just read 2 contracts from the insurers which give them complete control over my medical decisions, although I am responsible for the medical outcome.
The rules are contradictory and may change at any time at their own bidding and I have to comply in advance by signing to these rules although they can change anytime and they may or may not tell me about it. It is an absurd document and largely impossible to comply with the requirements.”
